Skinning Battery Pack
 
Skinning is replacing the picture (bitmap) used with another one.

Note, depending upon whether you have a QVGA or a VGA Pocket PC, you will need to use the QVGA bitmaps or VGA bitmaps. The Pocket PC directory to copy the files to is mentioned next to the icons below. Most bitmaps can have transparent areas. These are denoted by the magenta color (RGB 255,0,255).

Whenever possible, alternate icons have been included to help skinning design.

All images below (unless otherwise stated) are Copyright © Omega One Software LLC. The images may be used for personal use, and for free distribution for others for use within Battery Pack or Battery Pack Pro. No use should be made of them for commercial purposes, or for use in non-Omega One products.


Power Task

Close Button
The button is actually made up of four images:

  • The X close button
  • The X close button being pressed
  • The ok button
  • The ok button being pressed

Power Task Button
This is the button which brings down the Power Task menu.

Today Button
This is the button to the left of the close button that, when pressed, will return to the today screen.

Power Volume
The icon which allows control of the volume on the title bar of the Pocket PC's screen.

Power Bar

The Battery & memory Power Bars show the battery & memory information on the title bar.

Battery
The Battery Power Bar is created by displaying the hw_batter.png file as a background. If the battery status is unknown, the 3rd image in the hw_battbar.png file is shown. If the battery status is known, the 1st image in hw_battbar.png is shown, followed by some of the 2nd image to create an image showing the percentage of battery life remaining.

Numbers
The battery time remain figures are created by using bitmap numbers.

Memory
The Memory Power Bar is created by using the first image in hw_mem1.png as the background, followed by some of the 2nd image to create an image showing the percentage of memory remaining.

Storage Cards
The Storage Card Power Bar is created in a similar way to the Memory Power Bar. The only difference is the image that has been selected for this storage card in the Battery Bar options screen is used.

Battery Bar / Power Store

Battery Icons
On the Battery Bar and in Power Store, the battery icon is made up of several icons. The first is batt_meter.png. The top image is displayed first, then the bottom image is overlayed to show the percentage of battery life left.

If the battery is fully charged, the charged.png image is displayed over the top of the icon, in the middle of the battery icon.

If the battery is charging, the charging.png image is displayed on the bottom left of the battery icon.

If the backup battery is low (usually a sign that it need replacing), then the warn_icon.png image is displayed on the left hand side of the battery icon.

Network Icons
The Network.png file is used to display firstly the background image (the left hand image). If the device is downloading data, the left hand screen lights up using the left hand image on the right of Network.png. If the device is uploading data, the right hand screen lights up using the right hand image.

On the right hand screen an icon shows the type of connection that has been made. This is described with Network_State.png. This is 1.ActiveSync, 2. Wi-Fi (802.11) or Bluetooth, 3. GPRS or any cellular wireless connection or 4. No connection.

Backlight
Below are the bitmaps that make up the backlight section. The "bl_auto" consists of 2 icons, auto backlight off and auto backlight on. Note, the auto backlight feature is only found on the iPAQ 3800, 5000 series devices. Backlight can only be adjusted from the Battery Bar on iPAQ & Dell devices.

Left/right arrow icons
If more banks are displayed than can fit on the screen, then an arrow appears on the right (and the left when scrolled to the right) to allow scrolling to these extra banks. The image uses a background image and an arrow image:

Program Bar

Tab icons
Users can override the default icons used by Program Bar by changing the icon array image. Various sizes of this list exist for different parts of the product, and for different screen sizes. For QVGA devices, "iconarray10x11.png" exists for the small tab view (11 pixels high), "iconarray16.png" is used for the standard size tab view (16 pixels high) and "iconarray.png" is used in selecting which icons to use in the Program Bar options (32 pixels high). For VGA devices, "iconarray16.png" exists for the small tab view (16 pixels high), "iconarray.png" is used for the standard size tab view (32 pixels high) and "iconarray64.png" is used in selecting which icons to use in the Program Bar options (64 pixels high).

Copying the bitmaps to your Pocket PC
To copy the bitmaps to your Pocket PC:

  1. Dock your Pocket PC with your PC
  2. Open a folder window with your bitmap in it on the PC
  3. Right click on the ActiveSync tray icon on your PC and select Explore
  4. In the Window that is displayed, navigate to the Windows folder on your Pocket PC
  5. Drag the bitmap file from the PC explorer window to the Pocket PC window

The bitmap will now be on your Pocket PC.
To allow Power Task to use the bitmap, soft reset your Pocket PC.
