Installation
To download Battery Pack 2004 to your Pocket
PC:
Double click on the BattOD.exe or BattOL.exe file
(depending upon the version you downloaded).
Click on the "Extract" button.
Select "Yes" when prompted to create the directory.
Select "Yes" to run the program "Setup.exe".
Installation should begin (you will see the Omega One logo).
When installing onto your Pocket PC, always install to the
default directory. Do not install to any other directory (such
as on a storage card). Battery Pack 2004 uses very little
of your Program Memory.
Problems with installation
If you are having trouble installing, try the
following:
Make sure you have the latest version of the Microsoft
ActiveSync software. To download the latest version, go to
http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/downloads.
Find the processor your device uses by going to Start, Settings,
System on your Pocket PC (this will always be ARM for Pocket
PC 2002 devices). Now open up the c:\OmegaOne\BattPack folder
on your PC and you should find a batt.?.cab file, where ?
is the name of the processor on your Pocket PC (either SH3,
MIPS or ARM). Note, all Pocket PC 2002 & Pocket PC 2003
devices use the ARM processor. Make sure your Pocket PC is
connected to your PC and right click on the ActiveSync icon
on your PC's toolbar. Select Explore. This will display the
My Documents folder on your Pocket PC. Drag the batt.?.cab
file from the c:\OmegaOne\BattPack folder window to your Pocket
PC folder window. The file you need is now on your Pocket
PC. On your Pocket PC select Start, Programs, File Explorer.
It should default to your My Documents folder when opening.
Tap the batt.?.cab file and it should install.
Problems with reinstallation
If you are having trouble reinstalling a newer version of
Battery Pack 2004, or are upgrading from the trial version
to the full version you may have trouble with the BattBar.dll
file being already in use.
To correct this: Uninstall the current version of Battery
Pack 2004. See the Uninstallation instructions for more information.
Install the new version only when uninstallation is complete.

The Battery Bar Display
Battery Bar Settings Starting
the Battery Bar
When you install Battery Pack 2004, the Battery Bar
should show up automatically. If it doesn't:
Select Start, Settings, Today, Items.
In the list on the left find Battery Bar and check it. Note
you can move the Battery Bar up and down your Today items
by highlighting it and using the Move Up and Move Down buttons.
Tap OK, then Start, Today.
You should now see the Battery Bar on your today screen.
Back
The Battery Time Remaining display
Since everybody uses their Pocket PC in different
ways, the drain on the battery will be different. Battery
Bar "learns" how you use your Pocket PC to accurately
display the battery time remaining for how you use your device.
After a certain time it will start displaying battery time
remaining. Over the next few days of use the time remaining
display will steadily get more and more accurate.
Note: if you usually keep your Pocket PC fully charged all
the time it may take Battery Bar longer to generate an accurate
battery time remaining figure. In this instance, let your
Pocket PC discharge a little (down to 50-60% battery life)
once or twice.
Manufacturers advertise their Pocket PC will operate for
a certain amount of hours from a full charge. You will most
likely find the Battery Time Remain display will be a lot
lower than this figure. This is because your Pocket PC drains
the battery even when it is "off" (actually in standby
mode). Battery Time Remain only measures the time you are
using your Pocket PC (the time that is the most important
to you!).

Tapping the items on the Battery
Bar
When tapped, many of the icons and text on the Battery Bar
link to other useful functions, or change how the Battery
Bar information is displayed. If you are experiencing problems
getting to these functions, you may need to realign your screen.
To do this, tap Start, then Settings, then Align.
What happens when you tap an area is described in the Understanding
the Battery Bar section.
Back
Understanding the Battery Bar display
The Battery Bar is split up into 6 separate areas:
Folder / Battery icon
Tapping the icon on the left hand side will bring up the Power
Store application, which shows more detailed battery and storage
information.
Battery information
The battery slider shows how much battery life is left on
your Pocket PC.
Under normal conditions the display shows the battery icon,
a bar showing the amount of battery life left, and text. The
text shows one of the following three types of information:
How much Battery time is remaining (e.g. "5h 45m r").
"r" stands for "remaining". When the battery
is charging this changes to show how long it will take for
the battery to be fully charged (e.g. "1h 23m c").
"c" stands for "charging".
The percentage battery life remaining (e.g. "78%")
How long has elapsed since the battery was last charged (e.g.
"1h 23m e"). "e" stands for "elapsed"
To switch between these three types of information tap the
battery text.
To display more detailed battery information, tap the battery
sliders or battery icon.
If you connect an external battery to iPAQ Pocket PCs external
battery information will also appear (as shown in the picture
above). The battery time remaining will increase to take the
external battery into account.
Storage / Program memory
The Storage / Program Memory area shows the Storage Memory
and Program Memory available on your Pocket PC. Storage Memory
is represented by a hard disk icon, Program Memory by a chip
icon.
Tapping the memory icon (or left hand side of the memory
icon on the large Battery Bar view) will change whether Storage
Memory or Program Memory is displayed. By default Battery
Bar will cycle automatically between Program Memory and Storage
Memory. Tapping the icon will stop this cycling and will permanently
display Storage Memory. Tapping again will permanently display
Program Memory. Tapping once more will switch back to cycling
through Program Memory and Storage Memory.
Displaying Storage Memory can be useful in showing how much
memory you have available to install new programs to your
Pocket PC.
The slider shows how much memory is available. The text below
shows either:
Memory used in terms of megabytes (MB)
Memory used as a percentage
To switch between these two types of information tap the text.
Tapping on the slider (or on the right hand side of the memory
icon on the large Battery Bar view) will display more detailed
memory settings for your device (also allowing you to adjust
your Pocket PC to give you more storage memory or program
memory).
Storage card(s)
The storage card area displays information about all the storage
cards you have plugged into your Pocket PC at any time. Note
- on some Pocket PCs it also shows information about the internal
RAM disk (like an internal storage card). For more information
on this type of storage memory, see your Pocket PC manual.
Below the storage icon is displayed the amount of space available
on this storage card. Tapping this text switches between showing
the amount of memory free as a percentage or in megabytes
(MB).
Tapping the slider (or the right side of the storage icon
in the large Battery Bar view) will start the File Explorer
to allow you to explore data on your storage card(s).
Tapping the storage card icon (or the left side of the storage
card icon in the large Battery Bar view) will change what
information is displayed. By default the display will cycle
through all storage cards currently inserted in the Pocket
PC. Tapping the icon will stop this cycling and will allow
you to permanently display one storage card. Tapping again
will permanently display another storage card. Once all cards
have been exhausted, tapping again will switch back to cycling
through all storage cards.
Backlight
When tapped, the backlight icon displays the backlight settings.
Tapping the "a" button will turn the auto backlight
adjustment on and off on iPAQ devices with this feature.
The slider below the backlight icon adjusts the backlight
brightness. This feature currently on works for Toshiba &
iPAQ devices (not iPAQ 1910).
Time Zone Information
Instead of displaying memory or storage card details, the
Battery Bar can show the "Visiting" or "Home"
time zone. This can be useful when on vacation, or if you
have to deal with others in a different time zone.
The Time Zone information will display an icon for home (a
house icon) or visiting (a globe) time zones. If the current
time is set to the "home" time zone, the "visiting"
time zone will be displayed, and vica versa.
To change the time zones on your Pocket PC, tap the Time
Zone information on the Battery Bar. This will display the
Clock setup applet. More information on using this can be
found in your Pocket PC manual.
See Battery Bar Settings for more information on displaying
Time Zone information on the Battery Bar.
Analog Clock
Instead of displaying backlight information, the Battery Bar
can show an analog clock showing the current time.
Tapping on the clock will allow the user to change the clock
settings.
See Battery Bar Settings for more information on displaying
the Analog Clock on the Battery Bar.

(or RAM disk if your Pocket PC supports this).
Choose how often the Battery Bar updates its information.
Display the battery life in the title bar, so it can be seen
from any program.
Display small text in the battery, memory and storage card
meters showing the exact percentage.
Select various items to appear on the Battery Bar.
Storage Card icon

Bar and Power Store.
Displaying other Battery Bar information
By using the Display position 1, 2 and 3 selections, the Battery
Bar can be tailored to display exactly what you wish.
Backlight or Analog Clock information can only be displayed
in position 3 (due to size constraints). Memory, Storage Card
and Time Zone information can be displayed in position 1 and
2. This means that the Battery Bar can display one storage
card's information in position 1, and another storage card's
information in position 2, or that Time Zone information can
be displayed in position 1, and memory information in position
2.
Speech options
The options dialog allows you to:
Tell you if the battery (or external battery on iPAQ devices)
is low.
Tell you when the battery is fully charged.
Tell you if the program memory or storage memory is getting
low.
Tell you if one of your storage cards is getting low on space.
The dialog lets you change at what percentage battery life
is left. You can alter at what percentage it will warn you
when program, storage or storage card memory is low. You can
also change how often the speech warning will remind you (or
if you only want to be reminded once).
Power Bar options
To enable or disable the battery & memory Power Bar meters,
check or uncheck the appropriate check boxes on this tab.
If you wish, you can display the percentage as text in the
battery or memory meters. Also, the battery time remaining
can be displayed in the battery meter.

(if you have selected this option) will allow you to adjust
the clock settings.
The Program Bar can be customised to display any program
icons on your Pocket PC. See the section Adjusting Program
Bar for how to do this.
The Program Bar is designed to replace the Date today plug-in
that came with your Pocket PC. When you install Battery Pack
2004 it will be disabled. To re-enable it, simply Select Start,
Settings, Today, Items and check the Date check box.
Adjusting Program Bar
To adjust the settings of the Program Bar:
Select Start, Settings, Today. You may need to select the
Items tab.
Select Program Bar. Tap the Options button on the right hand
side.
This will bring up a screen allowing you to alter how Program
Bar displays information. The following settings can be altered:
Number of lines
The number of lines of icons displayed on the Today page can
be altered by selecting a value from 1 to 5 in the Number
of lines box. The number of lines displayed will change below
and on the Today page when displayed.
Show date
A specially shortened date can be displayed on the Program
Bar. This can be useful as it allows Program Bar to replace
the Date today plug-in that comes with your Pocket PC. To
disable the date, uncheck the Show date check box.
Single line scroll
If you select this option, up and down arrows will appear
on the right hand side of the Program Bar. Each time either
of these buttons are pressed, the Program Bar scrolls up or
down to the next line. Limit the number of lines you will
scroll by setting the number of lines to the correct value.
Icons
The icons on the Program Bar can be changed to most available
programs or settings. To change an icon, tap it. It will now
be selected. The name of the current program associated with
it will be listed above, and the path and file name below
(e.g. "Calculator" and "\windows\calc.exe").
To select a new program for this position tap on the combo
box above the icons and select the name of the program you
wish to associate.
Tap OK to confirm these changes.
Programs not in the list
All installed programs should be in the list of programs.
However, if you cannot find the program you want, you can
enter its path manually. To do this:
Select an icon position.
In the list, select * Custom Program Link *.
A dialog will be displayed asking you for the link. Type in
exact path (e.g. \Storage Card\program.exe). An optional parameter

& Alarm alerts sound, and how often they are repeated.
The Power Alert screen allows you to alter:
Whether Power Alerts are used or the standard alert sound.
Which sound file is used.
How loud the sound should be.
If the sound should sound if the battery is low (to save battery
life).
When an alert sounds, it can play for between 0 & 59 seconds.
If 0 is selected the sound will be played exactly once only.
After playing for between 0 & 59 seconds, the sound can
be repeated every 1-29 minutes. Setting this to 0 will mean
the sound is never repeated.
The sound alert can be stopped after 1-119 minutes. Setting
this to 0 will mean it will be stopped after playing the sound
once only.
