Skinning is replacing the picture (bitmap) used with another one.

All icons here can use transparent sections. The transparency color should be magenta (RGB:255,0,255).

All images in Journal Bar should be PNG files. To create this type of files, use graphics creation products which will output this format. One excellent product for this is PMView Pro.

Weather Icons
To replace the weather icons on the Pocket PC, a new bitmap should be created that is 676x26 pixels in size. This bitmap will contain 26 weather icons 26x26 in size. The file should be named QVGAweather.png for QVGA devices or VGAweather.png for VGA devices.

To skin Journal Bar, copy the icons to the folder under where Journal Bar was installed. This is usually \Program Files\OmegaOne\JournalBar.

For certain instances, a smaller version of the weather icons is used (QVGAweather12.png or VGAweather12.png). These are to show the current conditions in the top left hand corner.

For VGA systems, these bitmaps should be doubled in size to work correctly.

Section Icons
In the top left hand corner on all but the weather screens is displayed an icon showing which section is being viewed (QVGAicons.png and VGAicons.png). Each icon should be 12x12 pixels.

Directional buttons
To move between sections, and to move between stock or headline pages, the direction buttons can be used.

Progress Bar
On the right hand size during syncing is a progress bar. This is made up of a background (QVGAProgressBar.png or VGAProgressBar.png) and a foreground image which fills in the progress bar (QVGAPBGreen.png or VGAPBGreen.png).

Link Icons
In the links section, the link icons show an icon for each different type of link (QVGAlinkicons.png or VGAlinkicons.png). On the right hand side a set of icons allows the user to get help, edit the options, sync wirelessly or change the proxy settings (QVGAlinkicons2.png or VGAlinkicons2.png). Another icon is used to show whether the user has synced wirelessly or not (QVGAconnected.png or VGAconnected.png).

Copying the bitmaps to your Pocket PC
To copy the bitmaps to your Pocket PC:

1. Dock your Pocket PC with your PC
2. Open a folder window with your bitmap in it on the PC
3. Right click on the ActiveSync tray icon on your PC and select Explore
4. Navigate to the folder where Journal Bar was installed to (usually \Program Files\OmegaOne\JournalBar).
5. Drag the bitmap file from the PC explorer window to the Pocket PC window

The bitmap will now be on your Pocket PC. You may need to soft reset the device for the changes to take effect.

Copying these files to your Pocket PC will overwrite the images that came with the product. To use the original bitmaps, uninstall and reinstall Journal Bar.
